Tiger Helix (Oblivion) 2021 - 2023
Scrambling around inside a tiger print spandex morphsuit, I am trying to wrestle (in the dark) with current collective feelings of apocalypse and oblivion; getting in knots in the process.
Through performance, text, drawing, videos and projection the work explores morphological processes of transformation, trying to grapple with Western ignorance, contemporary urban entanglements with nature, and change.
Hoping for different temporalities, queer rupture and the possibility of holding onto the complexity of things. To be multiple, in the mud of it, getting stung by the nettles along the way.
First developed on residency on the Interdisciplinary Hospitalfields 2021, and presented as part of the London Conference of Critical Thought stream 'Art & Architecture: Planetary & Apocalyptic Spaces' 2023. Further developed at The Grange 2023, including wall painting and collaboration with Claud Tonietto. A version of the work was performed at Eastside Projects 2023.
